Methods: sputum samples were collected

1、 Self sputum collection: morning sputum is better, gargle with cold water. After deep inhalation, cough up deep sputum of respiratory tract. The sample should be no less than 1ml

2、 Sputum suction collection: assist the patient to take the appropriate position, percussion the patient's back from bottom to top, then connect the suction device and controllable suction cup, and suck 2-5ml sputum into sterile sputum collection container.

3、 Pharyngeal swab collection: ask the patient to gargle with clean water, take out the sterile swab, dip in a small amount of sterile normal saline, gently press the tongue with tongue depressor, quickly wipe the secretions of palatal arch, pharynx and tonsil on both sides of the oral cavity, avoid pharynx touching other parts, and quickly insert pharynx into the sterile test tube.

4、 Tracheoscopic collection: contact the endoscopy room to assist doctors to collect specimens directly under the guidance of tracheoscopy.

Notification of sputum specimen collection

1、 Before sputum retention, gargle with cold water, remove the dentures before gargling if there are dentures, and do oral care for patients who can not gargle by themselves.

2、 Avoid mixing saliva, mouthwash, nasal mucus and food residue into sputum.

3、 For patients with tracheotomy / intubation, when suction with negative pressure aspirator, one cup of sputum sample was discarded and the second cup of sputum sample was sent for examination.
